Additonal Info:
We've been a heavy supplier of Dark Sector news over the last couple of months as we have high expectations for this upcoming title from D3 Publisher, unfortunately it seems as though our online portion of the game may have some slight differences to that of the 360s. According to a press release that was sent out today, the PlayStation 3 online offerring of Dark Sector will be missing a couple of options relating to the process of starting up games.
Though these differences may be only minor and very trivial, it's disappointing to know that the same product couldn't be released for both platforms. It appears that the 360 version will allow you to setup Quick, Custom, and Ranked matches, while the PS3 will only offer the ability to search and setup games. Though this is a very small difference as stated before, it is still a difference.
Outside of this, the online play will be respectfully the same and D3 has given us information in regards to the gameplay modes that will be available online.
Infection is a game mode that will place one person into the body of Hayden, while placing up to nine others into the roles of Lasrian Troopers. The purpose behind this mode is to bring Hayden down to score points. You'll be able to gain points by assisting on a kill, stunning Hayden, or just killing Hayden yourself. If you kill Hayden, the round will end and the individual who took him down will resume the identity of Hayden at the beginning of the next round. Hayden will also be given the opportunity to rack up points for each Lasrian he decimates. The object of the game is to score the most points by the end of the game.
Epidemic will be your common team deathmatch offerring into the Dark Sector world. Players will be divided into The Agency and Lasrian Troopers. Each team will also have one Hayden that is exactly like a VIP to your team. A round will end whenever Hayden from either team is killed. Points will be scored via kills/assists, while points will be taken away for suicides. It is pretty much your standard team deathmatch game mode with the exception of having a VIP on your team that you probably wouldn't like to see die.
One thing note-worthy is the fact that each game will have automatic respawns. So this will not be one of those online games that forces you to wait for the next round to start before you can start playing again.
Dark Sector is set to release on March 25 in North America and March 28 in Europe.

O.k, I didn't even know that Dark Sector was even going to have Online, I thought that it was just a Single Player game... Dark Sector doesn't even need to have Online.
First I find out that Dark Sector will run better on the 360, and now this crap. Come on 3rd party developers, if you can't make the PS3 version of a game equal to the 360 then just push the game back because we all know that the PS3 is capable of more.
I was looking forward to this game, but now I think that I wont even buy it.
wrong, AclayPS3. If they can't make it equal, then don't bother at all. What's the point in putting out a buggy, ugly, crippled game? Honestly, I hope I don't get as lazy as these .blanks. when I become a VG developer.
JoeIcemanFrost - For many of us, it's nothing to do with being fanboys, it's anger at getting short-changed with games such as this. As far as I can tell, it IS down to lazy developers. Both PSN and Xbox Live are simply closed networks. There is nothing that CAN be done on one network which CANNOT be done on another.
The only difference is that where MS govern their network tightly with pre-written routines for functionality, Sony allow developers to have far more control over what they do and how. However, this does mean that they need to code routines themselves. While this is both a blessing and a curse, a developer only needs to create these routines once, and they can use them in all future software - so why do so many seem unwilling to do it?
Titles like Resistance and CoD4 have shown that the PSN is quite capable of matching or even bettering Live's options, if the devs want to do so. With games like Dark Sector and other similarly online-restricted titles like Blacksite, it certainly appears that functionality is missing from the PS3 versions simply because the devs couldn't be bothered.
So, "lazy devs" would seem to be less an excuse, and more a statement of fact.
EDIT: Hmm, they deleted his post!
really not interest in the online part of this game, cod 4 is the only online game play i need.

(made me laugh that his post was deleted though!)
*edit*
to my knowldege it was indeed originally led on the PS3, i distinctly remember it as an action game that enabled you to morph your costume (ala crysis) anyhow...what a 'bag of sh1te'
:(
im getting a bit worried about 'Link64'
:O
Blow me D3. I bet the PS3 would have had those features but you didn't want to push the game back another week or two. I guess it makes sense because FPSs always get better features on the 360. Again, blow me.
This is really disheartening. I was expecting so much more promise given that it's been announced since '04. Let's see, Digital Extremes: Pinball, Unreal Tournament(partnership), Pariah.....oh. Well then. There you go. No wonder.
I also want this, but RSV2 a week before
We always get the crappier versions for ps3.
