I think this goes to show that Sony is in this market for the long haul which now includes the handheld market as well. I don't think that Sony will grab the number one spot in the handheld market this generation but they have taken a serious chunk of Nintendo's market share and expanded the size of the market. They have quite a way to go before they surpass Nintendo but at this rate it doesn't seem like it will take too long. I think that as of now, they're considered to be a direct competitor and a serious threat to Nintendo's continual success not only in the Console market but in the handheld market as well. I look forward to the next generation of the handheld "wars" if only to see what exactly Nintendo and Sony will have in store for us.

This is a bigger deal than many may realize.  The Japanese are latching onto the PSP.  They love fads.  They will love to have the PS3 that nicely compliments that PSP.  It can translate into a huge sales boost.

PSP is getting more share than ever since the launch in 2004. I'm really surprised not to see a MS handheld out yet or are they just going to continue to ignore this market?
