PSP 2nd in Japanese charts, PS3 holds firm at 4th

SNK Playmore Japan has announced that it will be displaying the upcoming The King of the Fighters XII in video form at the All Nippon Amusement Machine Operator’s Union (AOU) 2008 event this weekend.
Running off of Taito’s Type X2 system, the title is currently scheduled to appear in Japanese arcades in June/July 2008, with a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 port due out some time in 2009.
According to SNK, The King of the Fighter XII has experienced the longest development cycle of any title in the series to date, having been built from the ground up to accommodate an all-new game engine and improved character sprites.
AOU 2008 will take place on February 16.

I would really love to see the new engine and sprites. I was thinking about how XII would look after playing XI.
The most rehashed series in gaming (maybe only beaten by Megaman)...but still, it's never too late to start again :)
It's been rumoured they're going to abandon the old sprites, and actually use hi-res ones this time around. I'm kinda looking forward to this one. KoF has always been pretty fun, but it's never really been the looker. And with other fighting games being awesome to play, and looking awesome King of Fighters needs to play some catch up in that department.

I am looking forward to this more than my pay cheque on the 15th....KOF is the best 2D fighter series ever! SNKP better not let me down.......best news all month!
Pfft 2009? SF2HDR and SF4 has stolen it's thunder even before it was anounced.
Coming from a bumch of newbs who obviously haven't kept up with the the insanity that was KOFXI, I expect no less from some of you guys. >_>
They really should release the ps3 ports of these fighting games quicker,as far as i know,there is NO good 2d fighting on next-gen consoles yet.
